A lot is being talked about the iportance of SME Sector , quite rightly so . Somehow, I have a feeling that much results are not forth coming .

The Sector needs special attention not just in organizing talks and seminars but in implimenting what is said to be desirable

I have a few suggestions

a… The current set of bankers would not be in a position to give a special treatment and they are justified in doing so since a large advance and a small advance more or less takes the same time and attention Why should they not give priority to something that gets them larger returns ? So instead of regulating them harshly, why not to have a separate bank that specialises only for this sector ? The state Governments should take this initiative . Why do we not consider cooperative Banks to play their role here ?

b… Please expedite the actual start up of SME Stock exchange . For this you will need many Cat III and Cat IV Merchant bankers as well ( These categories have been vanished since long !!)

c… For sick SME Units, state Rehabilitation Boards ,in line with BIFR can be considered at State Level
